AP News Summary at 2:00 p.m. ESTSam Darnold sensed the backside pressure as soon as he dropped back with Minnesota trailing by four points late in the fourth quarter in Seattle, so he moved into a safe space in the pocket and did precisely what the Vikings would prefer him to do with the game on the line. He threw the ball down the field to Justin Jefferson. The perfectly placed throw near the sideline beat double coverage for a 39-yard touchdown that put the Vikings back in front with 3:51 remaining in a 27-24 victory over the Seahawks on Sunday. “It was a great call,” said Jefferson, who had 10 receptions for 144 yards and two scores, all season highs. “I’m not going to say too much about that play, but something went on where me and Sam were on the same page, and he found me and we went up.” The Vikings were understandably coy about the context around the go-ahead touchdown , when Darnold made a difficult on-the-run pass just over cornerback Tariq Woolen that Jefferson deftly twisted to catch next to his backside hip so he could shield the ball from late-breaking safety Julian Love. Darnold saw Love's shoulders initially shaded inside just enough to believe he couldn't retreat fast enough to prevent Jefferson from getting the ball. Jefferson also applied some improvisation to his route that Darnold clearly and properly read during the play. “I want those guys to have some freedom in those moments,” coach Kevin O'Connell said. “We do a lot of things with Justin and Sam, seeing the coverage and then with some route opportunities to get to at the line of scrimmage, and I think those guys have just gotten so comfortable with that stuff.” Darnold's long-delayed breakout performance under O'Connell has been one of the stories of the NFL this season, one that wouldn't have unfolded as neatly for the third overall pick in the 2018 draft without such synergy between him and his superstar wide receiver. If the Vikings (13-2) win their last two games, they will not only be NFC North champions for the second time in three years but also get the No. 1 seed and the lone first-round bye in the NFC for the playoffs. “Every single game we’re finding different ways to overcome adversity, overcome the different stuff defenses have thrown towards us," Jefferson said. “Sam has done a great job being a leader.” What's working The pass rush was strong, with Andrew Van Ginkel recording two sacks and pressure leading to both interceptions of Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith. The Vikings were credited with eight hits on Smith. What needs help The Vikings converted only three of 12 third downs, their second-worst rate of the season. Stock up Theo Jackson, who saw significant playing time at safety with Harrison Smith out, had the game-sealing interception with 49 seconds left. Stock down Tight end Josh Oliver has played 47% of the snaps the last two games, his two lowest usage rates of the season. He dropped the only pass he was thrown on Sunday. Injury report The defense ought to get a big boost this week with the expected return of the 13-year veteran Smith from his first absence in two years when he was sidelined at Seattle with a foot injury. Linebacker Ivan Pace, who has missed four games on injured reserve with a hamstring strain, is also on track to be back with his return to practice. Backup defensive lineman Jalen Redmond, who didn't play against the Seahawks because of a concussion, has made progress through the protocol, O'Connell said. Backup cornerback Fabian Moreau, who was inactive at Seattle with a hip injury, will continue to be evaluated throughout the week. Key number 13.6% — That's the third-down conversion allowance rate for the Vikings over the last two games, with Chicago and Seattle combining to go just 3 for 22. The Vikings rank second in the NFL in third-down defense at 33.7% for the season and also rank second on fourth down at 36.7%. Up next The Vikings host Green Bay on Sunday, with the kickoff moved to the late afternoon showcase spot on Fox. If Minnesota loses to the Packers, the Lions will clinch the NFC North and the Vikings would open the playoffs on the road as the No. 5 seed at best. Even if the Lions were to lose at San Francisco on Monday night, the Vikings would need to win at Detroit on Jan. 5 to take the division title. ___ AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/NFL Dave Campbell, The Associated Pressdouble fortune game

The governor disclosed ambitious plans to construct 17 Smart Green Secondary Schools by 2025. This initiative complements the ongoing development of 245 out of 260 planned Smart Green Schools for students from nursery to junior secondary school. “We’ve dedicated one-third of our total budget for two consecutive years to education because we understand that education shapes the future of a nation,” Mbah said. “This isn’t about me—it’s about the next generation and those yet to be born.” He assured residents that the contractors working on these projects were being closely monitored to meet strict timelines, ensuring that the state’s vision for advanced learning environments is realized. Mbah highlighted the state’s efforts to equip educators with the tools needed to succeed in these modern learning environments. By September 2025, the governor promised, every child in Enugu State would be learning in a Smart School. “We’ve already trained 11,000 Smart School teachers and Directors of Experiential Learning to prepare for this transformation,” Mbah said. The governor reiterated that his administration’s investments in education are not about immediate results but about laying a foundation for the future. “Everything we’ve done is to provide our children with the best learning environment and access to technological tools that prepare them for a competitive world,” he stated. Mbah’s remarks show his administration’s commitment to long-term development through education, positioning Enugu State as a leader in innovation and learning. By prioritizing education in the state’s budget and committing substantial resources, the governor aims to shape a brighter future for generations to come.

As our reliance on mobile devices grows, the quality and design of these displays have become paramount in shaping our user experience. The evolution of smartphone screens has been marked by continuous innovation, with manufacturers pushing the boundaries of design to deliver more immersive viewing experiences. Among these innovations, bezel-less quad curve displays represent a significant leap forward in smartphone design aesthetics and functionality. By minimizing the frame around the screen, these displays maximize the viewing area while maintaining a compact form factor. The curved edges not only enhance the visual appeal but also contribute to improved ergonomics, making the device more comfortable to hold and operate. This design approach effectively transforms the entire front of the device into an uninterrupted canvas, offering users a more engaging and seamless interaction with their digital content. The quad-curve display represents a significant advancement over both flat and dual-curved displays. This design makes the device appear lighter and thinner, while enabling smoother touch interactions when swiping from any edge. Advanced AI anti-mistouch technology reduces mistouch rates by 25 per cent, ensuring precise control whether in portrait or landscape orientation. Leading this display innovation, the realme 14 Pro 5G sets a new benchmark in display technology with its revolutionary bezel-less quad-curve design. Boasting India's slimmest bezels measuring just 1.6mm on all four sides, this engineering marvel achieves an impressive 93.8% screen-to-body ratio. The result is an almost borderless viewing experience that transforms how users interact with their content. Building on this borderless design, the expansive 6.83-inch display is enhanced by a precise 42-degree golden curvature on all four sides, creating an aesthetic that's both visually striking and ergonomically sound. The thoughtful design of realme 14 Pro series ensures comfortable handling despite the generous screen size, while the premium Crystal Armor Glass provides robust protection against accidental drops. The implementation of cutting-edge FIAA technology, typically reserved for flagship devices, ensures superior colour accuracy at the edges, effectively eliminating the common green fringe issues seen in traditional curved displays. Visual excellence is at the heart of this display, featuring a crisp 1.5K resolution that brings content to life with exceptional clarity. The 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling and fluid animations, while the 2500Hz instant touch sampling rate delivers ultra-responsive touch interactions - a combination that particularly elevates the gaming experience. The impressive 1500 nits peak brightness ensures excellent visibility even under bright sunlight, while the industry-leading 3840Hz PWM dimming technology reduces eye strain during extended viewing sessions, especially in low-light conditions. The development of this advanced display technology represents a significant R&D investment, with extensive engineering solutions for complex challenges like module lamination and durability. Through customized lamination fixtures and comprehensive simulation modeling, realme has achieved a robust and reliable display that maintains its integrity even under demanding usage conditions. The realme 14 Pro 5G's display technology marks a significant step forward in smartphone innovation, where every millimeter has been optimized for an unparalleled viewing experience. From the precision-engineered bezels to the advanced eye protection features, each element has been crafted to enhance how users interact with their digital world. Stay tuned for more updates on additional features that make the realme 14 Pro 5G a true game-changer in smartphone technology. -IANS na/ MENAFN23122024000231011071ID1109025696 Legal Disclaimer: MENAFN provides the information “as is” without warranty of any kind. Source: Jimmy Carter Library & MuseumEl Salvador Congress votes to end ban on metal miningPresident-elect Donald Trump has been the ultimate GOP mover and shaker since 2015, using his sway to impact the party far beyond just his own political career. Now, Vice President-elect JD Vance has some early opportunities to make his own mark. Vance, still Ohio's junior senator, has shepherded some of Trump's Cabinet picks around and can use his ties to his colleagues to promote others. He is also in touch with Ohio Republican Gov. Mike DeWine as he mulls who to tap to replace Vance in the Senate until 2026, when that person would then have to run in a special election to serve the rest of the seat's term. It's unlikely that Vance -- or anyone -- can emulate Trump's unique ability to affect change in the party. But Vance is the country's second-highest ranking Republican and considered Trump's heir apparent, making the upcoming opportunities chances to glimpse the power the 40-year-old holds across the GOP to promote the incoming administration's goals but also his own stock beyond his formal role. "It's pretty clear that he is in a pole position after Trump to help lead the party. So, he's going to, I think, take these opportunities to show the party that he's a loyal soldier to Donald Trump, but he's also going to be a future force to be reckoned with," said former Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, who remains in touch with Trump's team. Vance is not a sherpa for every single Cabinet pick, but he did escort former GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz, Trump's failed attorney general pick, and Pete Hegseth, tapped to lead the Pentagon, around Capitol Hill. He's also making calls to Senate colleagues about some of Trump's Cabinet choices, according to sources familiar with the matter. He's also in what one source described as semi-regular contact with DeWine as the two-term governor mulls who to appoint to the Senate seat that Vance is vacating. The decision is ultimately DeWine's, and there currently doesn't appear to be a favorite for the role, but sources said they would be surprised if the person was someone who rubbed Vance and Trump the wrong way. "Ohio is his domain, so I think you can expect that his voice in the upcoming Senate race will be important," one source close to Vance said. "There is a want to land on somebody that everybody involved will be happy with, DeWine, Trump and JD." To be certain, Vance can only move the needle so far with Cabinet confirmations and Senate appointments, decisions that are up to a Senate looking for chances to assert its independence and a governor who has clashed with Trump but remained electorally viable. There will also be tougher battles to come as the next administration works to muscle through its policy priorities, and Trump will still run the show as a dominant political figure who virtually blocks out the sun. MORE: Hegseth's attorney threatens to sue sex assault accuser if she repeats 'false' claims and he's not confirmed But the dual conversations over appointments could offer early indications of how much Republicans listen when Vance speaks, even as someone's No. 2. "He talks to [senators] a lot," said one source in Vance's orbit. "They're his colleagues still for another four weeks. So, yeah, he works the phones. He was on Capitol Hill this week. I think he wants to see folks get in there so the administration can hit the ground running on day one. "He's a surrogate for when the President has to be in multiple places at the same time. He's influential, but I don’t know that he's more persuasive than the president as such. He’s augmenting," the person added. Already, Vance has seen some of his allies elevated in the incoming administration. James Braid, who was Vance's deputy chief of staff in the Senate, will be the White House's formal liaison to Congress. Daniel Driscoll, another Vance ally, was tapped to be secretary of the Army. Trump picked hedge fund manager and Vance friend Scott Bessent as his treasury secretary after he donated millions to the presidential ticket. And Vance has already proven his sway by helping now-Ohio Republican Sen.-elect Bernie Moreno win Trump's endorsement in the Ohio Senate primary this year and then get him over the finish line against Ohio Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown who had defied political gravity for several cycles. There have been setbacks, too -- Gaetz withdrew his name from consideration after sexual misconduct allegations dogged his nomination, and Hegseth is facing headwinds over allegations of sexual assault and heavy drinking that he's denied. However, it's unclear how much outside help could improve their chances given the gravity of the allegations. "This is a chance to see how many of Vice President-Elect Vance's confidants end up in the Cabinet, and whether they are Cabinet secretaries, or the other place to take a very serious look is the undersecretaries," said Steve Stivers, a former congressman who leads the Ohio Chamber of Commerce. "It's not just the Cabinet secretaries, but the undersecretaries that matter here, because those will be people filling their résumé being ready to move up." MORE: At Fox Nation awards ceremony, Trump boasts about recent conversations with foreign leaders, promises to 'look at' election system Still, there's no guarantee that Vance will be able to be as big of a mover and shaker as normally possible for vice presidents in Trump's White House. The president-elect is famously wary of others enjoying too bright of a spotlight, and there could be other high-profile Republicans who are also anticipated to be power players after Trump leaves office, including Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Trump's pick to lead the State Department, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is rumored to be in the mix for Pentagon chief if Hegseth's nomination falls through. "Obviously, he has a great opportunity here. But I think for folks to say it's a fait accompli that JD Vance is somehow ahead of the rest of the field today, I just don't think that's accurate," said one former senior Trump administration official. "What is he going to do that's outside of the Trump shadow, that is actually him, that is not him acting as a liaison for Donald Trump? And of those things, what does he do that pisses off Donald Trump? Because it's a guy that doesn't really like people operating outside of his shadow." But at the end of the day, Vance will have a more elevated platform than any other Republican in the country except for one, and Trump enters office as a lame duck because of constitutional term limits, possibly leaving Vance well-positioned for a potential vacuum in a party dominated by Trump for nearly a decade. "Trump picked him for a specific reason, and that reason is to carry the mantle. Now, he's 40 years old. That dude could be around for a while. Trump was looking ahead," said Ohio GOP strategist Mike Hartley. "I think he's going to give him every opportunity to succeed."Overhauls of 'heritage brands' raise the question: How important are our products to our identities?

'Monopoly money' found in backpack of New York health CEO gunmanUS agencies should use advanced technology to identify mysterious drones, Schumer saysIn Udaipur, a big family fight is making waves—and it’s not your regular argument. It’s a clash between the former royal family! A newly crowned “maharana” (kind of like a king) wanted to visit a family shrine for blessings, but his uncle and cousin blocked him. Why? Because they’ve been left in charge of the palace trust by the late maharana. Drama alert! But wait, this isn’t just happening in Udaipur. All across India, from Rajkot to Gwalior, old royal families are fighting over their fancy stuff—palaces, jewellery, and the titles they don’t officially hold anymore. These families may not rule anymore, but they still have plenty of wealth to argue about. Here’s a quick history lesson: India’s royal families had their golden age from the 1700s to the 1900s, after the Mughal Empire weakened. During British rule, they stayed in power as a kind of second-tier royalty, sometimes helping the Brits and sometimes just enjoying their riches. But when India became a republic in 1947, things changed. By 1971, they lost their royal titles and huge government payments called “privy purses.” So, what do royals do now? Some have joined politics, using their royal charm to win votes. Others turned their palaces into fancy hotels, while some are social media stars, showing off a glamorous, aristocratic life. Around the world, former royals are mostly seen as symbols of history or juicy gossip material. In countries like Britain or the Netherlands, they don’t have real power anymore—they just cut ribbons and attend events. But their personal lives, full of scandals and squabbles, keep people hooked. Even though India is a democracy where everyone is equal (at least in theory), people are still fascinated by royal drama. Whether we’re watching their fights or following their luxurious lifestyles, royals make for amazing reality TV—whether on screen or in real life!

Freddie Flintoff's Bullseye reboot major update after record-breaking showNEW YORK (AP) — No ex-president had a more prolific and diverse publishing career than Jimmy Carter . His more than two dozen books included nonfiction, poetry, fiction, religious meditations and a children’s story. His memoir “An Hour Before Daylight” was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2002, while his 2006 best-seller “Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid” stirred a fierce debate by likening Israel’s policies in the West Bank to the brutal South African system of racial segregation. And just before his 100th birthday, the Dayton Literary Peace Prize Foundation honored him with a lifetime achievement award for how he wielded “the power of the written word to foster peace, social justice, and global understanding.” In one recent work, “A Full Life,” Carter observed that he “enjoyed writing” and that his books “provided a much-needed source of income.” But some projects were easier than others. “Everything to Gain,” a 1987 collaboration with his wife, Rosalynn, turned into the “worst threat we ever experienced in our marriage,” an intractable standoff for the facilitator of the Camp David accords and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. According to Carter, Rosalynn was a meticulous author who considered “the resulting sentences as though they have come down from Mount Sinai, carved into stone.” Their memories differed on various events and they fell into “constant arguments.” They were ready to abandon the book and return the advance, until their editor persuaded them to simply divide any disputed passages between them. “In the book, each of these paragraphs is identified by a ‘J’ or an ‘R,’ and our marriage survived,” he wrote. Here is a partial list of books by Carter: “Keeping Faith: Memoirs of a President” “The Blood of Abraham: Insights into the Middle East” (With Rosalynn Carter) “Everything to Gain: Making the Most of the Rest of Your Life” “An Outdoor Journal: Adventures and Reflections” “Turning Point: A Candidate, a State, and a Nation Come of Age” “Always a Reckoning, and Other Poems” (With daughter Amy Carter) “The Little Baby Snoogle-Fleejer” “Living Faith” “The Virtues of Aging” “An Hour Before Daylight: Memories of a Rural Boyhood” “Christmas in Plains: Memories” “The Hornet’s Nest: A Novel of the Revolutionary War” “Our Endangered Values: America’s Moral Crisis” “Faith & Freedom: The Christian Challenge for the World” “Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid” “A Remarkable Mother” “Beyond the White House” “We Can Have Peace in the Holy Land: A Plan That Will Work” “White House Diary” “NIV Lessons from Life Bible: Personal Reflections with Jimmy Carter” “A Call to Action: Women, Religion, Violence, and Power” “A Full Life: Reflections at Ninety”
