NEW YORK — Two luxury real estate brokers and their brother have been charged with luring, drugging and violently raping dozens of women over more than a decade, according to a federal indictment unsealed Wednesday in Manhattan. State charges were also filed Wednesday in Florida against two of the brothers and a third man stemming from three alleged sexual assaults over the past decade. Federal prosecutors allege in the New York indictment that Oren and Tal Alexander, known for brokering deals on high-end properties in New York City and Miami, and sibling Alon Alexander used their wealth and influence to take advantage of victims from at least 2010 to 2021. “This conduct was heinous,” U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams said at a news conference in his Manhattan office. The brothers, who all reside in Miami, used “deception, fraud, and coercion” to entice victims to travel with them or attend parties or events in which they covered flights, hotels and other expenses, according to the indictment. They also at times used the promise of a romantic relationship, it said. The women were then drugged and raped by one or more of the brothers, as well as other men, the U.S. Attorney said. After the assaults, the brothers often gave their victims concert tickets and luxury items, Williams added. The brothers typically met their victims on dating apps, through social events and at bars and nightclubs, but they also used party promoters to “source” women, according to Williams. He added that the women were often provided drugs, including cocaine, psychedelic mushrooms and GHB. The brothers even surreptitiously drugged some of the women’s drinks, leaving them physically impaired and unable to fight back or escape from the sexual assaults, prosecutors said in their indictment. "In some instances, the defendants physically restrained and held down their victims during the rapes and sexual assaults and ignored screams and explicit requests to stop,'' the indictment said. In the Florida cases, state prosecutors described one incident in December 2016 as a “gang rape” of a woman who said she was invited to a barbecue at Alon Alexander’s Miami Beach apartment only to discover no one there, save Alon, his brother Oren and another man. The woman, who is not named, said she was led into a bedroom where the brothers argued over who would rape her first as she pleaded with them not to assault her, according to Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle. The second incident, in October 2017, involved a woman who said she was sexually assaulted by Oren Alexander at his apartment following a real estate event. The woman said she was given a glass of wine that made her feel weak and unable to control her body before she was attacked, according to prosecutors. They said the third incident happened in October 2021 and involved a woman who said she was assaulted by Oren Alexander after going out to dinner with him and then going back to his residence with some of her friends. Williams, the U.S. Attorney in New York, said the three brothers were arrested in Florida on Wednesday and will appear in Miami federal court before being brought to New York to answer to the charges. He declined to say if others also will be charged and urged any other possible victims to come forward as the investigation is ongoing. “They were not acting alone,” Williams said. A lawyer representing one of the brothers denied the charges, which include one count of engaging in a sex trafficking conspiracy for each sibling. "Oren Alexander is innocent," attorney Susan Necheles wrote in an email. “The evidence will show that neither he nor his brothers ever committed a crime.” Lawyers for the other brothers did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment. Tal Alexander, 38, and Oren Alexander, 37, first worked as a team under real estate giant Douglas Elliman, listing properties for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Liam Gallagher, and Lindsay Lohan. In 2022, they started a new company called Official. Meanwhile, Alon Alexander, who is Oren's twin brother, attended law school and joined the family business, private security firm Kent Security.By Political Reporter- The state media released the title of Auxillia Mnangagwa, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Tourism and Hospitality Management thesis title, after pressure from the public. Auxilia got the PhD on Thursday at Midlands State University (MSU), which she was given by his husband, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who serves as the Chancellor of all state universities. The thesis, titled has ignited widespread criticism and comparisons to the notorious PhD scandal involving Grace Mugabe. Critics have questioned the legitimacy of Auxillia’s academic credentials, noting the absence of public records indicating her completion of a bachelor’s degree—a fundamental requirement for postgraduate studies. The episode evokes memories of 2014 when the University of Zimbabwe controversially awarded former First Lady Grace Mugabe a PhD in Sociology. That degree became synonymous with academic fraud after her dissertation was found missing from university archives. Many viewed the move as a ploy to bolster her political image. Similarly, Auxillia’s PhD has drawn sharp scrutiny. While state media claims she holds a degree from Switzerland and a master’s degree from MSU, critics dismiss these as a convenient cover for nepotism. The timing and circumstances of her academic achievement have fueled suspicions of political influence, with detractors labelling it a calculated propaganda stunt rather than a legitimate scholarly accomplishment. Observers have expressed concerns about the deep politicization of Zimbabwe’s academic institutions. Under Mnangagwa’s leadership, state universities have been accused of prioritizing loyalty over merit, using degrees as tools to reward political allies and enhance public profiles. Auxillia’s PhD overshadowed other significant achievements at the ceremony, including that of renowned artist Albert Nyathi, who earned a Master of Philosophy in Ethnomusicology. Instead of celebrating academic milestones, discussions were dominated by the First Lady’s controversial accolade. This latest scandal has further eroded confidence in Zimbabwe’s higher education system, with citizens questioning the integrity of academic processes. Critics argue that such blatant abuses of power undermine the value of genuine academic achievements, leaving the nation’s universities mired in controversy and distrust.Bowls miss out in 4 CFP teams in latest postseason twist
Elon Musk says the Securities and Exchange Commission wants him to pay a penalty or face charges involving what he disclosed — or failed to disclose — about his purchases of Twitter stock before he bought the social media platform in 2022. In a letter posted by Musk on the platform now called X, his lawyer Alex Spiro tells the outgoing SEC chairman, Gary Gensler, that the commission's demand for a monetary payment is a “misguided scheme” that won't intimidate Musk. The letter also alleges that the commission reopened an investigation this week into Neuralink, Musk's computer-to-human brain interface company. The SEC has not released the letter. Nor would it comment on it or confirm whether it has issued such a demand to Musk. “It is the policy of the SEC to conduct investigations on a confidential basis to preserve the integrity of its investigative process,” an agency spokesperson said in an email Friday. Messages also were left Friday by The Associated Press seeking comment from Spiro. In the letter, Spiro says he is responding to demands from SEC staff members about a multi-year investigation of “certain purchases, sales and disclosures of Twitter shares.” In addition, Spiro is demanding to know who directed the actions. Musk bought Twitter in October 2022 for $44 billion. But a lawsuit filed by a Twitter investor in April 2022 accused Musk of violating a regulatory deadline to reveal that he had accumulated a stake of at least 5%. Instead, according to the complaint, Musk failed to disclose his position in Twitter until he had nearly doubled his stake to more than 9%. That strategy, the lawsuit alleges, hurt ordinary investors who sold shares in the San Francisco company in the nearly two weeks before Musk acknowledged that he held a major stake in Twitter. Eventually, the disclosure of Musk's stake in Twitter caused the value of its shares to soar 27% from its April 1 close to nearly $50 by the end of trading on April 4. That improper delay, according to the lawsuit, deprived investors who had sold shares before Musk's stake in the company was publicly known of the opportunity to realize significant gains. Musk has been engaged in a running battle with the SEC since 2018. That was when he and Tesla, his electric car company, each agreed to pay $20 million in fines over tweets Musk had made about having amassed the necessary funding to take Tesla private. Such a transition never happened; Tesla remains a public company. Musk sought to overturn part of the settlement that required him to have his postings about Tesla reviewed by a Tesla attorney. That provision, he had contended, violated his free speech rights. The dispute made its way to the Supreme Court, which rejected Musk's appeal without comment. Gensler, who was nominated to lead the SEC by President Joe Biden, announced last month that he would step down from his post on Jan. 20, when Donald Trump will be inaugurated as president. Trump has announced that intends to nominate cryptocurrency advocate Paul Atkins to chair the SEC. Trump has named Musk as co-chair of a “Department of Government Efficiency” to try to reform the federal government.NoneOscar-winner who 'discovered' Jack Black and acted with Tom Cruise is unrecognizable at 66... who is he?
Wall Street stocks finished a lackluster week on a muted note Friday as concerns about rising Treasury bond yields competed with enthusiasm over artificial intelligence equities. Of the major indices, only the Nasdaq mustered a gain in Friday's session. The tech-rich index was also the only of the three leading US benchmarks to conclude the week higher. "Equities are kind of treading water," said LBBW's Karl Haeling. "A negative influence to some extent is the rise in bond yields." The latest US consumer price index data released this week showed prices ticked higher in November and the wholesale data also showed stubborn inflationary pressures. "Yields rose to their highest levels in over two weeks as markets brace for the Federal Reserve's final meeting of the year, reflecting concerns over sticky inflation," said Chris Beauchamp, chief market analyst at online trading platform IG. There is also growing concern over the inflationary pressures from President-elect Donald Trump's pledges to cut taxes and impose tariffs, as inflation still stands above the Fed's target. "While the markets still anticipate a rate cut from the Federal Reserve next week, the likelihood of a move in January has dropped," said Patrick Munnelly, partner at broker Tickmill Group. The CME FedWatch tool shows the market sees a more than 75 percent chance that the Fed will hold rates steady in January. In Europe, the Paris CAC 40 index ended the day down 0.2 percent after French President Emmanuel Macron named his centrist ally Francois Bayrou as prime minister, ending days of deadlock over finding a replacement for Michel Barnier. Frankfurt also dipped, with Germany's central bank sharply downgrading its growth forecasts on Friday for 2025 and 2026. It predicted a prolonged period of weakness for Europe's biggest economy. London stocks were also lower after official data showed that the UK economy unexpectedly shrank for the second consecutive month in October. The euro recovered after flirting with two-year lows against the dollar following a warning Thursday by ECB president Christine Lagarde that the eurozone economy was "losing momentum", cautioning that "the risk of greater friction in global trade could weigh on euro area growth". In Asia, Hong Kong and Shanghai both tumbled as investors were unimpressed with Beijing's pledge to introduce measures aimed at "lifting consumption vigorously" as part of a drive to reignite growth in the world's number two economy. President Xi Jinping and other key leaders said at the annual Central Economic Work Conference they would implement a "moderately loose" monetary policy, increase social financing and reducing interest rates "at the right time". The gathering came after Beijing in September began unveiling a raft of policies to reverse a growth slump that has gripped the economy for almost two years. "We're still not convinced that policy support will prevent the economy from slowing further next year", said Julian Evans-Pritchard, head of China economics at research group Capital Economics. Real estate agents say the three most important factors in getting a good price for selling a home are location, location and location. Likewise, management views the three most important factors in keeping the Guardians relevant in the American League Central Division as pitching, pitching and pitching. Guardians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti was on Zoom on Dec. 13 to discuss the decision to trade Gold Glove second baseman Andres Gimenez plus right-handed relief pitcher Nick Sandlin to the Blue Jays on Dec. 10. The trade netted four players for the Guardians, but only one who will definitely be ready for the Major Leagues in 2025. The Guardians acquired second baseman/first baseman Spencer Horwitz plus minor-league outfielder Nick Mitchell from the Blue Jays. The Guardians then traded Horwitz to the Pirates for pitchers Luis Ortiz, Josh Hartle and Michael Kennedy. Cleveland #Guardians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti discusses the decision to trade second baseman Andres Gimenez to the Blue Jays. pic.twitter.com/NqblHbXlv8 — Jeff Schudel (@jsproinsider) December 13, 2024 Gimenez is under contract for $10,571,428 in 2025 — roughly a $5 million increase from 2024. He will make an additional $5 million in 2026 and $23,571,428 in 2027, 2028 and 2029 as part of the seven-year contract he signed with the Guardians in 2023. Antonetti said the money that had been allocated to Gimenez can now be spent elsewhere. Josh Naylor, who made $6.5 million in 2024, is projected to make $14.2 million in his arbitration-eligible 2025 season. Ortiz was 7-6 in 15 starts with the Pirates last season. Hartle, a 21-year-old left-handed starter, was a third-round pick by the Pirates in the 2024 draft. He was 6-3 with a 5.79 ERA in 15 starts for Wake Forest in 2024. He was 11-2 with a 2.81 ERA for the Demon Deacons n 2023. Kennedy also is a left-handed starter. He is 20 years old. He was drafted by the Pirates in the fourth round in 2022 and was 2-5 in 2024 at Low-A Bradenton. Mitchell, 21, can play all three outfield positions. He was a 2024 fourth-round draft pick by the Blue Jays. He hit .289 with four home runs and 13 RBI in 22 games last summer for Toronto’s Low-A farm club in Dunedin, Fla. In addition to acquiring the three pitchers from the Pirates, the Guardians also re-signed Shane Bieber to a one-year contract with a player option in 2026. But Bieber is recovering from right elbow surgery and isn’t expected to be ready to pitch until June or July. Triston McKenzie McKenzie and Logan Allen, two Guardians starters that spent most of 2024 at Triple-A Columbus, are X factors. “We feel we’re in a much better position now than we were a few weeks ago,” Antonetti said. “I think we were pretty clear at the outset of the offseason. Our goal was to try to add to our starting pitching staff in particular, and we feel we’ve been able to add two quality alternatives to that. “So now I think we can be a little bit more opportunistic and look at just the variety of different pathways we might have to improve the team, whether that’s in the rotation or somewhere else.” Ortiz is the player expected to pay immediate dividends. He is 25 years old and won’t be arbitration eligible until 2027. He won’t hit free agency until 2030. “Luis Ortiz will join our major-league rotation, and we think there’s a lot of reasons to be excited about what he brings to the organization,” Antonetti said. “We love the developmental path that he was on last year. He went through some challenges initially at the major-league level, but he emerged as a really consistent starting pitcher with really good stuff and we think he’s got a really bright future ahead of him. “He throws a two seamer, a four seamer, a slider, a cutter, and has really power stuff. And we think partnering him with our major-league pitching team can help him continue to grow and develop into a really effective major-league starting pitcher.” The Guardians acquired Gimenez plus shortstop Amed Rosario from the Mets in 2021 for shortstop Francisco Lindor and starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco. Gimenez hit .261 in four years in Cleveland. Over the past three seasons, he drove in 69, 62 and 63 runs. Gimenez saved 11 runs with his fielding prowess, according to BaseballReference.com. The only second basemen with more defensive runs saved were Marcus Semien (15) of the Rangers and Brice Turang (13) of the Brewers. The Guardians plan to find their second baseman from players within their own organization. Tyler Freeman, Gabriel Arias, Daniel Schneeman, Angel Martinez and Juan Brito are candidates, Antonetti said. Travis Bazzana, selected by the Guardians with the first pick of the 2024 draft, can play second base or center field. MLB.com projects Bazzana making his major-league debut in 2025, but Bazzana spent last season with the High-A Captains. He is expected to start his 2025 season with the Double-A RubberDucks.Liberal GST holiday expected to pass soon as government introduces solo bill

The Northwest Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdulhamid Umar Muhd, has made a passionate appeal for African leaders to prioritise youth inclusion in policymaking and governance. Representing the Nigerian youth at the 29th United Nations Climate Change and Conference of Parties (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan, Muhd emphasised the need for deliberate efforts to engage young people in decision-making processes, particularly, in addressing critical issues like climate change. He noted that the African youth were brimming with innovative ideas that could drive the continent’s development but were often sidelined in governance. “Young people are not just beneficiaries of policies; they are critical stakeholders in shaping them. Their creativity and innovation are key to solving global challenges, including the climate crisis,” Muhd said during his presentation. He highlighted the contributions of Nigerian youths, particularly, in climate-related innovations such as renewable energy projects and eco-friendly technologies. He, however, lamented the lack of recognition and support for these initiatives, stressing that Africa’s progress hinges on unlocking the potential of its youth. “From recycling innovations to sustainable energy solutions, Nigerian youths have already shown their capacity to lead the fight against climate change. Yet, their voices remain underrepresented in governance and decision-making,” he added. Muhd also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to expand youth inclusion in strategic decision-making within his administration. He urged the Nigerian government to create platforms for young people to contribute meaningfully to national development, especially in technology-driven sectors. Reflecting on the opportunity to address a global audience, Muhd described his participation at COP29 as a defining moment. “This is not just about advocating for youth inclusion; it is about securing the future of our continent by empowering those who will inherit it,” he said.Lundin Mining Announces TSX Approval for a Normal Course Issuer Bid

THE BBC runs a competition called “Women’s Footballer of the Year”. In drawing up a shortlist, they have one job. And that’s to select a woman who plays football . Doesn’t sound terribly onerous, does it? Plenty of women around who play football, aren’t there? But the BBC couldn’t quite manage that task. Because on the shortlist was the Zambian player Barbra Banda . Barbra certainly plays football. And when up against women, is rather good. Trouble is, Babs ain’t what you or I would call a woman. Instead, Babs is rather closer to what you or I would call a bloke. READ MORE FROM ROD LIDDLE Banda plays for the Zambian national team. However, the player was withdrawn from the 2022 African Cup of Nations . Because it was claimed she — or maybe more properly he — did not meet the gender verification criteria. There are lots of things which might be responsible for that, such as having male levels of testosterone. Or generally having a male physique. But the BBC was happy to let Banda be named Women’s Footballer of the Year. Probably, knowing the BBC, even happier than if Barbra had actually been a, you know, young lady. They like to make a progressive political point at the BBC. Most read in The Sun Needless to say there were howls of outrage from within the game. And plenty more outside it. Largely from women who believe that it’s only fair to let women compete against other women. Rather than against men who are born stronger and faster. Harry Potter author JK Rowling , for example, had this to say: “Presumably the BBC decided this was more time efficient than going door to door to spit directly in women’s faces.” Ouch! But she’s right, isn’t she? Because the selection of Banda is an insult not only to women footballers, but to all women. Deranged argument Right now women’s sport is in an absolute crisis — all because of the counter-rational and truly idiotic insistence that blokes who say they are women but are actually men should be allowed to compete against women. It’s taken years for women’s sport to be taken as seriously as men’s sport. And now, suddenly, just as women’s football has really taken off, guess what? The men-women people are inveigling their way in. It’s not just football, of course. A recent United Nations report suggested that transgender athletes have taken a total of 900 medals away from real women across 29 different sporting disciplines. That’s kinda shocking. And remember, this report was from the UN which is about as progressive as it gets. I thought this battle was well on the way to being won. More and more sports bodies are outlawing transgender competitors having previously allowed this fraud. Everywhere, the deranged argument that insists blokes who say they are women really are women is in rapid retreat. Common sense has been allowed back into the argument. But not at the BBC, of course. They are determined to carry on flying the banner for a cause which even some of the transgender activists have given up on. One day, not too far down the line, this last decade will be regarded as being really very, very odd. The obsession with gender politics . The general determination not to allow sanity to have its say. But when Barbra picks up the award, 90 per cent of those watching will know the truth. That the award should really have gone to a WOMAN. ALERTS OFTEN HOT AIR WHY did Storm Bert cause so much damage to the country? Hundreds and hundreds of homes underwater. Communities evacuated. There have been complaints that there were not enough early warnings. But the Met Office said: “Storm Bert was well forecast, 48 hours in advance, with a number of warnings in place ahead of the system reaching the UK.” So what went wrong, then? Here’s my guess. It’s about the boy who cried wolf. You know the story. EVERY weather front which approaches the UK gets the same treatment. With the forecasters shrieking at us “STAY INSIDE!” In case we are burnt to death. Or drown. Or have our testicles frozen off in a snowstorm. And nine times out of ten there’s no problem at all. So when they warned us about Bert, we just thought: “Yeah, yeah. Same ol’ same ol’.” CUT PEP LOOKS HELLISH WHAT the hell has happened to Pep Guardiola ? He looks like he’s just done ten rounds with a Tasmanian devil. Scratches and gouges all over his face and head. Manchester City lost five games on the trot. And Pep made a comment about self-harming. The most likely explanation is that Pep was set upon by furious Satanic imps because he had reneged on a deal with their boss. I can’t prove it, it’s just a guess. WOKE IS WAL OVER THE biggest company in the world has become the latest to ditch its odious DEI policies. DEI stands for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. ANOTHER anti-Semitic hate crime in London . This time a bunch of girls walking home from school had bottles thrown at them. One 14-year-old lass was taken to hospital with a head wound. Earlier this year, a 16-year-old Jewish lad had to flee in terror when he was pelted with rocks by a mob. We know who the perpetrators are. Here, just as in France and Belgium and Germany . But for some reason we’re scared to call it out. It’s time we started telling the truth about these horrible racist attacks. SHIRK FORCE DODGE SO, the Labour Government isn’t going to reform our costly and catastrophic benefits system at all. They had said they would. But nope, not really. There are hundreds of thousands of people claiming state money for doing nothing but sitting on their fat arses watching Homes Under The Hammer . Unless they are threatened with the immediate withdrawal of benefits, they will continue to do so. And our welfare bill will continue to spiral.
